ASMAN Scholarship Program

Help us brighten a child’s future!

“Each one Teach one”

Nepali society is mainly patriarchal by tradition. Gender disparity and exclusion from services as education and health is common with many a girl child. The girl child has to fend after home and hearth from a very tender age. The children excluded commonly are usually from the marginalized castes, from ethnic groups, orphans, street children, working children, children from the poverty impoverished and children from the remote and geographically isolated areas. ASMAN is thus supporting the Mary Ward Schools, to build better futures for underprivileged children. In this connection, ASMAN has created a Scholarship fund to be utilized solely for the needs of the Mary Ward Schools. ASMAN is working with the intention of giving these young women an opportunity to empower themselves and become self dependent. It is vital in today’s world that the young girls of today, who are the women of tomorrow know about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Both ASMAN and the Sister’s have seen these young girls change and become confident, capable individuals enriched by their educational background.

The ASMAN Scholarship Programme, “Each One Teach One” was established in 2002 with the dream of finding sponsors for children studying in the 2 sister schools - ‘Mary Ward’ of Lubhoo and Jhamsikhel.  Within almost a decade, ASMAN has managed to reach out and help a certain number of children. Sponsors are provided with the child’s bio-data, photo and report cards annually. At the beginning of each school term, sponsors are invited to meet and handover the gift package to their child personally (prepared with their donation of Rs 5000/- per child per year). The package contains text books, stationery and uniform to aid them through the whole year. This gesture has helped greatly in stopping their parents from pulling them out due to financial difficulties. The Sisters of St. Mary’s School partner with ASMAN in imparting value based education and discipline to the children.

The main objectives of scholarship support are:

  • To increase the enrolment rate of the girl child in formal education with special focus on socially excluded
  • Bring a decrease in the number of drop out of girls
  • To achieve gender parity in primary, lower secondary and secondary education, from the existing disparity in each of these levels

Your generous contribution will sponsor a child’s entire annual educational needs at a cost of NRs. 5,000/- only.  Or you can also contribute to the Scholarship Fund, set up by ASMAN for the Mary Ward Schools.

The Sponsorship can be a continuous endeavor for our generous benefactors . The Scholarship dues will be collected annually and a Programme will be fixed every year where the sponsors can meet their sponsored children and acquaint themselves with each other.

ASMAN strongly recommends and requests the presence of the benefactors at the Annual Sponsorship Programme .
